ARTICLE I.   NAME

 

Section 1.    The club shall be named

The Aquatics Club of the West Shore

 

ARTICLE II.  PURPOSE

 

Section 1.    The purpose of this organization is:

 

A.     To sponsor and promote amateur competitive swimming in the best interest of the program participants.

B.     To develop good citizenship, sportsmanship, socialization, enthusiasm for swimming, and personal responsibility among all team participants.

C.     To promote and maintain the highest level of physical fitness, team spirit, ethics, growth, and enjoyment of sports.

D.    To promote swimming as a lifetime sport

E.     To serve as a feeder program to the local high school swim teams.

 

ARTICLE III.  MEMBERSHIP:  PARENTS' ORGANIZATION

 

Section 1.    Eligibility

 

A.   The Parents' Organization will be open to all parents or guardians of participants interested in promoting the team and volunteering to help at events.

 

 

Section 2.  Participation

 

EACH SWIM TEAM EVENT IS POSSIBLE BUT

ONLY THROUGH PARENT PARTICIPATION.

 

A.               Any parent or guardian who attends meetings of the organization and assists with meet responsibilities shall be considered a participant.

 

B.                Participants shall perform any reasonable service required in support of the swim team.

 


ARTICLE IV.  BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The number of board members shall be set at a maximum of 15 members.

 

The Board of Directors consists of:

 

A.               The Executive Committee

B.               Committee Chairs

 

The only VOTING members of the Board of Directors are members of the Executive Board

 

 

ARTICLE V.  EXECUTIVE BOARD

 

Section 1.  The Executive Committee of the Board shall consist of the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, The League Representative, and three parents at-large.

A.     All final decisions (monetary, league participation, and suspension) will be voted on by the full Board.

B.     Any changes, additions, deletions, and explanations for the betterment of the constitution will be made by this Board in conjunction with the Parent Organization membership

C.    At times, the Board of Directors may survey the membership of the Parent Organization on a specific issue. The outcome of any membership vote will be considered in the final decision of the Board of Directors.

 

ARTICLE VI.  COMMITTEES

 

Section 1.    Appointment of Committees

Committees shall be appointed by the President during organizational meetings. Committees are necessary for the effective operation of the swim team, meet responsibilities and pre-season registration. All participants are encouraged to volunteer and become involved in each established committee. Standing Committees necessary for ongoing team functioning are listed in Section 2 through 10. Additional Committees may be appointed by the President as necessary on an ad hoc basis to fill any need that the team may have in a particular season.

 

Nominating Committee

Responsible for generating a slate of individuals to be considered for vacancies on the Executive Board.

 

Recognition Committee

Responsible for coordinating all aspects of the end of season events. (gifts, location, food, special awards, etc.)

 

Swim Meet Committee

Responsible for coordinating parent volunteers for efficient running of dual meets.

 

Concession Committee

Responsible for pre-planning and “day of meet” organization of all aspects of the concession stand.

 

Fund-raising Committee

Responsible for raising monies for the swim team to purchase items that will benefit the team.

 

Public Relations Committee

Responsible for media releases, website development, and team picture coordination as well as photography and information releases.

 

 

ARTICLE VII.  LEAGUE REPRESENTATIVE

 

Section 1.    A parent volunteer will be appointed by the Board to represent the team at League meetings.

 

ROLE: The League Representative will:

 

 

  1. communicate ACWS needs to the league

 

  1. negotiate logistics concerning ACWS meets (home/away/dates)

 

  1. relate communications on rule changes etc. to the team to incorporate into meet operations

 

  1. handle the communication for the team regarding conflict resolution

 

  1. attend designated League Meetings:

Summer - League is CASL (approximately 2 meetings)

Winter - League is CPAL (approximately 5 meetings)

 

ARTICLE VIII.  AMENDMENTS

 

Section 1.  QUORUM

The Board of Directors shall consists of a maximum fifteen (15) voting members. A majority of voting members present during a meeting will constitute a quorum for a vote to take place on any business before the board.  In the event of a tie, the members not present shall be polled to complete the vote OR the vote will be postponed to the next scheduled meeting or a special meeting called by the President.
