Swim Parents' Responsibilities

Help to Staff Meets (Home & Away)!

We need a minimum number of volunteers to stage/run a home swim meet.  Here are some of the kinds of jobs that are in need of parent volunteer help:

(7 to 14) Timers - One for each lane, Record time

 

 

 

independently to the hundredths. Ex: 2:09.05

 

(1) Announcer - Speak slowly, yet loud enough to introduce events.

 

(2) Runners - Collect time cards and deliver them to scorers' table.

 

(2) Scorers - Record results from cards to the official score sheet.

 

(2) Ribbon Recorders - After results have been recorded, transfer name, place, and time on the appropriate place ribbon.

 

 

 

(2+) "Staging Assistants" - these are critical volunteer positions for the swimmers.  They are on deck and help to line up the swimmers in advance of their events.  We never want a swimmer to miss their race!  So we need as much help here as we can get!

 

 

As our season progresses, this is an area where volunteers can help the team by ensuring that our swimmers get to the starting blocks for their assigned heats.

Officials & Judges:

(1) Place Judge - Independently call and record the finish place of each swimmer and relay the order of finish to the recorder.

 

(2) Stroke & Turn Judges - Ensure proper stroke technique and announce any disqualifications to the meet referee.

Set up

Clean up

Set up and clean up after our meets is an important function of our team.  Volunteers in this area help to insure that we are ready to start our meets on time and that we will be allowed to use the facilities in the future by ensuring that the facilities are left in good condition upon completion of our meets.

 

 

 

 

 

Concession Stand

 

One of the largest and most consistent fund raisers of our team is the concession food stand.  Volunteers help to insure that guests are served as quickly as possible and that every parent working in the kitchen is able to see hie/her child swim their individual events.

 

 

 

& the donation of baked goods and other food creations!
